Thomas Aiello is an associate professor of history and African American studies at Valdosta State University. He is the author of The Battle for the Souls of Black Folk: WEB DuBois, Booker T. Washington, and the Debate That Shaped the Course of Civil Rights (Praeger, 2016), Jim Crow’s Last Stand: Nonunanimous Criminal Jury Verdicts In Louisiana (LSU, 2015), Model Airplanes Are Decadent and Depraved: The Glue-Sniffing Epidemic of the 1960s (Northern Illinois, 2015), and The Kings of Casino Park: Race and Race Baseball in the Lost Season of 1932 (Alabama, 2011), among several other books. He has also published dozens of articles on American history, philosophy, religion, linguistics, and culture.
