George Washington's Radical Decision: A Modern Precedent

On Wednesday, July 24, 2024, President Joe Biden addressed the nation from the Oval Office. NPR reported*, "Biden tried to send the message that no one person is bigger than the country — and that what America stands for is at stake." 

Reflecting on George Washington’s 1796 farewell address he noted: "...here, kings and dictators do not rule; the people do."

George Washington, the first U.S. president, established innumerable principles and precedents for the office.
